er-Rao Lower Bound for Blind Signal Separation Henrik Sahlin and Ulf Lindgren Chalmers University of Technology, Department of Applied Electronics, S-412 96 Gothenburg, Sweden, [email protected], Telephone +46 31 772 1845 Abstract This paper considers some aspects of the source separation problem. Unmeasurable source signals are assumed to be mixed by means of a channel system resulting in measurable output signals. These output signals can be used to determine a separation structure in order to extract the sources. When solving the source separation problem the channel lter parameters have to be estimated. This paper presents a compact and computationally appealing formula for computing a lower bound for the variance of these parameters, in a general Many Inputs Many Outputs scenario. This lower bound is the asymptotic (assuming the number of data samples to be large) Cram er-Rao lower bound. The CRLB formula is developed further for the two-input two-output system and compared with the results from a Recursive Prediction Error Method.

The Structure of Bhattacharyya Matrix in Natural Exponential Family and Its Role in Approximating the Variance of a Statistics

In most situations the best estimator of a function of the parameter exists, but sometimes it has a complex form and we cannot compute its variance explicitly. Therefore, a lower bound for the variance of an estimator is one of the fundamentals in the estimation theory, because it gives us an idea about the accuracy of an estimator. It is well-known in statistical inference that the Cram&eac...

Linear random measurements of two non-commuting observables

A Cram er{Rao type bound for two{parameter quantum statistical model is studied, based on linear random measurements. It is shown that in nitely many (continuous potency) measurements which attain a lower bound exist. The RLD{bound for pure coherent models is shown to be most informative.

Low Angle Estimation: Models, Methods, and Bounds,

In this work we study the performance of elevation estimators and lower bounds on the estimation error variance for a low angle target in a smooth sea scenario using an array antenna. The article is structured around some key assumptions on multipath knowledge, signal parameterization and noise covariance, giving the reader a framework in which Maximum-Likelihood estimators exploiting di erent ...

Analysis of a subspace-based spatial frequency estimator

In a previous paper we have presented a novel method for spatial and temporal frequency estimation assuming that the sources are uncorrelated. The current contribution analyzes this method in the case of spatial frequency estimation. In particular an optimal weighting matrix is derived and it is shown that the asymptotic variance of the frequency estimates coincides with the relevant Cram er-Ra...
